definition: easily destroyed or threatened;  (of a person) not strong or sturdy; delicate and vulnerable.


fracture=fract-[break]+ure-[noun]

Definition: the cracking or breaking of a hard object or material; the replacement of a simple vowel by a diphthong owing to the influence of a following sound, typically a consonant.

Today, we are going to learn a new etymon, “mit” meaning “send“. It has two variants, “miss” and “mis“.

Now, let’s analyze the composition of “emit”.

The word consists of two etyma, “e” meaning “out“, and “mit” meaning “send“. By combining them together, we can easily deduce the meaning of the word “emit“, which is “send out“. And it is very close to the definition in the Oxford Dictionary, “to send out something such as light, heat, sound, gas, etc.

remiss=re-[back]+miss-[send]
